This Project began 30 years ago. The objective was to provide access to the outer islands and make lasting safety improvements for the transfer of passengers from ship to the shore and significantly reduce the damage to cargo and to speed the transportation operations through improving the cargo packaging and handling. We enabled outer islands communities to manage environmental, health and other social impacts resulting from the Project. The Project review was carried out in 2006 and is known as the TTSTP.
In 2009, ECL were engaged to carry out site investigations of the existing new channels, facilitate stakeholders discussions and involved in the tender processors of the project. Lorin Tulakepa, Vijendra Naicker and Richard along with Beca visited 8 outer Islands in Tuvalu carrying out preliminary surveys, developed the engineering designs drawings for the reef channels and associated work.
The Project Cost was estimated at NZ$5.0M and our clients are NZ Aid.
